Becoming Hospice Medical Director Certified® (HMDC®) through the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board® (HMDCB) will demonstrate a physician's commitment and expertise to end-of-life care. Hospice organizations can be confident that their certified hospice medical directors possess a skill set that encompasses both the clinical and administrative abilities necessary in hospice medicine.

Applications for the 2020 examination window opened January 7, 2020. The early application deadline is March 17, 2020, with late applications due by April 13, 2020, with an assessed $250 late fee. Encourage your physicians to apply online to save on the late fee! Recommended by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), HMDCB is an independent, not-for-profit certifying body that administers a certification program for hospice medical directors and other physicians who provide hospice care for patients. HMDCB is also recognized by Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP) and The Joint Commission.
